Women’s Sports Medicine

Women of all ages are enjoying exercise and sports participation more than ever before. ONS women’s sports medicine physicians address the needs of active women from recreational athletes to Olympians.

The female athlete is uniquely susceptible to certain acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. Our goal is to help patients safely attain optimal athletic performance and prevent future health problems.

Clinical Team

Dr. Gloria Cohen is a primary care sports medicine physician with specialty training in women’s health. She is also on the medical team for Columbia University athletics. She was a member of the Canadian medical team for three Olympic Games and was selected for the Winter Olympics 2010 host medical team. Dr. Cohen is a dancer, cyclist and competitive runner.

Dr. Katherine Vadasdi is an orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship training in the shoulder and elbow, and sports medicine. She is a former assistant team physician for Columbia University athletics. Dr. Vadasdi is an accomplished triathlete, having completed Ironman competitions in 2007 and 2009. She is also an alpine climber.
